It seems ironic that at a time when the farming industry is claimed to be booming a survey shows that
sixty percent of farmers do not expect their families to carry on with the farming business even
though forty six percent would wish them to.
Affco Chief Ross Townshend suggests that it may be because families have seen the effects of the tough
times for farming during the nineties.
