The New Zealand and Australian meat industry organizations have agreed to support each other to enhance
industry-wide prospects, Meat New Zealand has announced following last weeks meeting of senior
to discuss ways to boost progress amongst industry members.
Meat Livestock Australia and Meat NZ said the two organizations will work together to maximize marketing
benefits and cost containment and the organizations would also fight against any U.S. appeals
or extensions on imposition of lamb in the U.S.
Meat Livestock Australia chairman John Acland said the current foot-and-mouth crisis in Europe highlighted
the need for the industry to exchange ideas and work together on the delivery of knowledge
on farming methods.
