Beef: Limited supplies of manufacturing beef from Australia & Asia resulted in improved U.S. prices last week with bull up to 104c/lb, highest price in 11 months. No beef is going into Canada and could be up to 6 weeks before actual supplies move into U.S. Overall, Agri-Fax market indicators up 1-4c/kg on farmgate basis.
Lamb: Stronger NZ dollar was main factor affecting market returns last week with over $1 per head coming off. As South Island winter prices hover around 420c/kg for the main grades, strong competition in North Island saw prices lift by up to 10c/kg to be at similar levels.
